This Compilation of Kind Words Written By Strangers, To Nurses, Will Make You Feel Loved

May 13th, 2022

Dear Nurses, this might be the most beautiful love letter you’ve ever read. It was written, for you, from strangers across the planet. Proof that the world loves nurses, today, and always. 💜

We asked all your friends, family, patients, coworkers, loved ones, and strangers to share their words of encouragement with us. So that we can share with you – our community!

We received hundreds of responses – so, make sure to bookmark this page, and return to it whenever you need a little extra love. Get ready to smile…

Words of Encouragement To Nurses – Love, All of Us

  • To YOU, the healthcare workers but also the human beings behind the PPE, we want to encourage you to continue, to tell you that you are in our thoughts, in our hearts and prayers. Like YOU told my 14yo son Will when he broke C4 and C5 leaving him paralyzed from the neck down, “take it one day at the time”, “don’t look in the rear view mirror anymore but only forward”…”don’t let scary thoughts win, continue the fight and NEVER quit”. Today Will is walking, climbing stairs and can bike over 70 miles….and SO WILL YOU, YOU WILL BEAT THE VIRUS, the fatigue and the discouragement because the STRENGTH and THE WORLD is within you! BIG HUGS, BIG LOVE!
  • Thanks, for everything you do to help out your community, and I hope there is many of you that continue helping during these tough times.😁👍

  • I just wanted to share how proud I am of my 2 granddaughters, Meg an RN, and Madison, a CNA, going into the nursing program works at UT southwestern in Dallas, TX. They followed in their Mother’s footsteps and have become such a blessing to this family.

No matter how hard it gets, persevere. Stay safe, stay strong.Best of wishes, Clara 💛”
  • Y’all are TRULY APPRECIATED! Thank you for taking care of our loved ones ❤️
  • Thank you guys so much for what you do for our country. Words can not express the gratitude that the entire world has for health care workers in this time of crisis. You all are keeping the world afloat at a time where there is no other way out. Health care workers will never go unnoticed, and after this the world will know what it takes to be on the front lines and attack a pandemic full force!! Thank you guys so much!!!!!
  • Stay safe while you protect others in these unprecedented times! The world is keeping you all in our thoughts & prayers.
  • I am currently in my 3rd semester of nursing school & everyone in the frontlines are setting an example for us, students, to follow. I look up to you all, thank you for your hard work.. it does NOT go unnoticed!!!
  • You are in our thoughts and prayers!!  THANK YOU for your dedication to help each and every patient.
  • As an Infection Prevention nurse,  I am very aware of the challenges you are facing every day during this pandemic.  I want to offer some words of encouragement to all of you.  You are loved.  God will never leave you.  You matter and the work you are doing is of great value to others.  You are making a difference.  You are brave.  Keep up the good work and remember, “with God, all things are possible”.
  • Thank you for sacrificing everything. You are amazing and God loves you!
  • You guys can do this! You will beat this! It will be over!
  • You are on our battlefields hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second, in conditions you have likely never seen. So thank you SO MUCH!! Many of you are far from home and your families. You are the only family for so many patients.
  • One thing: Please promise me and yourself to take time for self-care every day! A break for a funny video, a walk outside, a family call, a delivered meal, proper non-work time in general. And don’t feel guilty for doing so–it just makes you stronger, makes you better, and better able to serve and give to your patients. Like the oxygen mask in an airplane–put yours on first. In doing this, lean on each other to get through, and remind each other to take a break, grab a fellow nurse over to take a break, do a video, audio or written journal, listen to your fave song or a song that’s new to you (YoYo Ma’s cello’s suite by Bach is a fave of mine!), video chat your family, check on one another. Pay one another if you miss a certain #of self-care activities, to incentivize!  Call to talk to a counselor for your stress–it can help even if you don’t think so and set a good example for others if you choose to tell them.
  • Much love and positive vibes to each of you and your friends and families.
  • We are in awe of you every day and love that you’re working so hard in our service, but we need you to take care of you as a priority, too! Please do!
  • Stay healthy–we need you!
  • Sending big hugs from Fort Lauderdale to all of you working long hours helping people!  You are all doing an AMAZING job! Please, know that I keep all of you in my prayers!  I am an “essential business” worker (not in a hospital) and make sure to stay safe when I’m working and stay home when I’m not working. Thank you so much for all that you do to take care of patients, we will soon be in a better place. Take care!

  • “To all of the strong healthcare heroes working tirelessly to help fight COVID-19:
  • Thank you! Thank you for risking your lives to save others’, not just during this pandemic, but everyday. We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication you have for making sure everyone is safe and healthy.
  • With love always, the DePaul community”
  • I am a member of the DePaul community and I am writing this letter to say thank you for the work you do. I pray that in this season of uncertainty you are able to find strength and hope to continue doing the work that you do. I pray that you are able to find peace in the midst of the current situation. Thank you again for the work you do everyday.
  • Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the work you do every day.  We will only get through this because of you.  Know that we all are behind you, supporting you and cheering you on.  We are doing our part by staying inside, no matter what anyone says, and we will continue to do so because we want everyone to be safe and healthy.  We want YOU safe and healthy.  Thank you for your selfless giving.  Thank you for caring so much.  Thank you for taking care of all of us.
  • Thank you for everything that you do.  I’m glad that healthcare workers are finally receiving the appreciation and accolades that have been long overdue.
  • Thank you so much for all you are doing – you are so deeply appreciated.
  • THANK YOU for all that you have done and continue to do! Through the long hours and nonstop care- there aren’t enough words to express how much we appreciate it!
  • Thank you so much for the sacrifices you have made during this time. I want you to know that your endurance, strength, and dedication is truly appreciated. Thank you and I hope you stay healthy and safe.
  • Thank you all so much for your selfless work on the front lines. I can’t imagine all of the emotions you must be feeling. Just know that you’re not alone and that you are loved!💛
  • “Dear Nurses, We see you, we salute you, we honor your courage when it may not be the easiest.  Thank you for showing up every shift and taking care of our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers.  You’re in a great position of power, and I stand behind you to ensure that you are physically and emotionally protected now, and after this.  Love, A Public Health Nurse Leader & Professor “
  • “I first just want to thank you for your heart, dedication, and love for all the patients. I also want to let you know that I am praying for you, all of you. God has built you for this, for this moment. He placed you there because he placed many gifts and talents on the inside of you. You were built for this.
  • I pray that the Lord gives you the strength to get up daily to go to work and to get out of bed. I pray that he gives you wisdom and understanding through these times. I pray that we give you energy. I rebuke the spirit of fear, anxiety, and unhealthy levels of stress in the name of Jesus. I pray that you, your coworkers are covered and protected by the blood of Jesus Christ from this virus in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
  • Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” I encourage you to pray about everything to the Lord so that you can experience peace of God. Read and Pray on Psalm 91\. Release all your requests, worries, and cares to him, and PEACE will be released.
  • The Lord loves you dearly, no matter if you know him or not. He wants to help you, but he is waiting for you to put all of your trust and faith in him. We are limited but His power is limitless, he wants us to depend on him. That is why Jesus died on the cross so that we do not have to experience long-lasting suffering. The last thing that I want to say is that the only ingredient that makes prayer powerful is faith. You have to have faith. Faith is believing in the unseen.
  • Hebrews 11: 1 says that “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” 2 Corinthians 5-7 to walk by faith, not by sight.
  • “I do not know why people are dying. But know that we are no longer suffering from this virus. I do not know why we are experiencing this pandemic. But I do know that God is good and that his word says that he will never FORSAKE us. It may look like or feel like he is not, but I know he is. During rough times, stick to what you do know that is good. So, I do know that God loves you and that his love never fails. I do know that he is moving. I do know that his power is bigger and stronger than anything thing on this earth. I hope this letter sparked up faith that is on the inside of you.  Remember we are all praying for you. Love, Your Sister in Christ, Christine”
  • My name is Travis Eastham and I am a staff member and alumni of DePaul University in Chicago. Words cannot express the gratitude that I have for all of you and all medical professionals during this difficult time. All the best to you, and stay safe and healthy!
  • I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your dedication and expertise in making such a critical difference to so many individuals and their families.  I know that during this pandemic you are probably tired of people referring to you as heroes, and I agree that during this time the term is a bit overused. In fact, you were heroes long before this pandemic and you will continue to be heroes long after we’ve come out of this extraordinary time.  Please know that especially during these challenging days, you are not alone and that there are many of us out here who love you and support you and want to do everything that we can to make your jobs easier; and if that means staying at home, we’ll do that for as long as it takes.
  • You are doing the most difficult work of the pandemic and we thank you. Please take time for self-care if you are able. All the best wishes to you.

As someone who has a sister with terminal cancer currently living in a nursing home; had a mom who lived in a nursing home due to a brain tumor; had an aunt who lived in a nursing home following a stroke/brain surgery – I have seen the dedication of nursing staff first hand for over a decade. During this pandemic healthcare workers worldwide stepped up and have selflessly cared for our loved ones when we could not. THANK YOU FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • We appreciate all the long hours to help all these patients in need who are suffering from coronavirus.
  • “Dear Healthcare Heroes, Thank you for your hard work, we greatly appreciate everything you have done for us. I just wanted to let you know that we see what you are doing and we are extremely grateful to have you all!”
  • Thank you for being so brave. You are all doing a tremendous job that does not go without recognition. We see your work, dedication, and compassion during this time. THANK YOU!

  • I am a student of the DePaul University community and I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your hard work day in and out! It is so appreciated and I am so thankful for all of the work everyone in healthcare is doing. Make sure to take some time for yourselves and know that this too shall pass!
  • You are a hero! You are a strong and brave individual for being on the frontline in a moment like this.  Your work does not go unseen and we thank you for your hard-work.
  • I still haven’t found a way to express how thankful I feel for all the work you are doing. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic started, healthcare professionals have been working hard to continue helping others. Now we see a bigger commitment with healthcare professionals putting their lives at risk to help those affected by the virus which is why I think now it’s the time to share a bigger thank you with all of you. Healthcare professionals are heroes and deserve all the admiration and appreciation they are receiving.
  • Thank you for all that you are doing to keep us safe and healthy. We are so grateful for your hard work. We are sending strength, love, and gratitude your way!
